4 applications, if any, on your phone, they spy on you! Surprise

A new report revealed that many VPN apps, blocking popular ads on Android and iOS, have secretly collected data for millions of users in favor of Sensor Tower, a popular analytics platform.

Sensor Tower has run at least 20 applications, including: VPN (ad-hoc) apps and ad blockers, the main purpose of which was to collect user data without their knowledge, and these apps - which have not revealed their connection to the company  It has more than 35 million downloads.

Once installed, these applications require users to install the root certificate, which is a small file that allows access to web activity and data that passes over the phone, which is not allowed by both Apple and Google applications, but developers have used a simple vulnerability to overcome this.

Many apps have used promising misleading notifications with additional features, for example: Luna VPN offers a notification that provides the ability to block ads on YouTube for free if users download an additional file from a third-party website after installing the application, which is another company product that works on  Install (root certificate) on the device.

The apps announced so far include:

(Adblock Focus): Available for Android and iOS.

(Free and Unlimited VPN) app: Available for Android.

(Luna VPN): Available for Android and iOS.

(Mobile Data) application: available for Android.

Apple has deleted the Adblock Focus app from its store, while Google has deleted the Mobile Data application, and the two companies have stated that they are investigating the remaining applications, but you must immediately uninstall the apps listed above, especially if you download any of them from external sources  Instead of App Store, or Google Play.

This is also another reminder to pay attention to the app's permissions, especially the root certificate permission for any reason, as this gives the app direct access to everything in your phone including: all your files, folders, and applications, in other words you give the app full access to do  Whatever he wants in your phone.

Even if an app requires regular permissions that may not be necessary, you should pay attention to it, for example: Why does a VPN app need access to your contacts or your camera.

You should pay close attention to the permissions requested by the app, and if any of them seems unnecessary or suspicious, then refuse permission, and uninstall the app on your phone immediately.
