Microsoft has made some significant improvements to skype video calling and eliminated the hassle of making a call such as signing up for the service or downloading the app, so that users no longer need to sign up for an account or download the software in order to join video conferences across the platform.

There's also a simpler interface that allows users to start a video call with just one click, so Skype now lets you make a video call by simply going to the new Skype call page and clicking the Create a Free Meeting button to create a link that you can share with other people.

Once you're done, people can join the call by clicking on this link, and if you have a Skype app, you can click the "Meet Now" button and create a link that can be shared with others, noting that participants must choose a username to identify before they join the call if they don't have an account or app.

The service said about the new changes: "Easy video meetings without recording or downloading. You can enjoy unlimited meetings via Skype by creating a unique free one-click link and sharing it with others. There is a full range of features at your disposal, and the validity of the meeting link is endless and can be used at any time."

Such features have allowed Zoom to become one of the most popular options for dramatically increasing video call usage as the new Coronavirus epidemic has changed the way people work and communicate, however, Zoom has seen a range of security and privacy issues, so some have resorted to other alternatives.

Zoom requires the meeting host to have an account, as well as the app to start a call, and Microsoft's voice and video chat service said via Twitter: "We offer you a simple, hassle-free way to connect with important people in your life via Skype without having to sign up or download the app."
